Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the Mazda Verisa?
A. The Verisa is a five passenger mini minivan or tall wagon, produced by Mazda Japan for the home market. The car was first introduced in 2005.
Q. What are some of the stand out features of the Verisa?
A. The Verisa's compact size and excellent fuel economy (40+ mpg on the highway) along with a roomy interior are some of the car's prized attributes.
Q. Why isn't Mazda sending the car to the US? With its high mpg, it would be a great second car for many families.
A. Most definitely, the Verisa would be a strong entry in the US as its price (around $18K) and its excellent fuel economy would be attractive to many consumers. Mazda hasn't said that the car won't be coming stateside, but many manufacturers build cars for only one market, while sending a different model abroad. Although we don't see the Verisa, we do see a companion model, the Mazda3.
Q. What else do you know about the Verisa?
A. In a crowded home market, the Verisa is a fair seller, selling approximately 20,000 units in 2005, the last year those figures were available. For 2009, the second generation Verisa will be released and although we don't have much information about this updated model yet, the fact that Mazda Japan is sticking with the model shows that there is sustained appeal for the car.
