A compact car whose time has come.
Welcome To Mazda Verisa!
The Mazda Verisa is a subcompact car produced by the Mazda Motor Company exclusively for the Japanese market. First introduced in June 2004, a significantly updated model was released in August 2006. It has been rumored that partner Ford Motor Company will get a car produced by Mazda based on the Verisa's platform in the near future.
The
Mazda Verisa is available either as a front wheel drive model or
an all wheel drive vehicle.
Powered by a 1.5L engine, the car is paired to either a five speed manual or
a four speed automatic transmission.
Categorizing the Verisa isn't an easy task as the car's style suggests a
minivan appearance. Indeed, it has the look of a tall hatchback and close to
what a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) looks like. Though it has an all wheel
drive capability it is doubtful whether the Verisa would see off-road duty.
If the car was available for sale in the US, estimates of its price would
be in the $16-18,000 range, above what the Mazda3 is retailing for.
Some of the standard and special features of the Mazda Verisa include:
- Steering wheel with audio remote control switches
- Ground illumination lamps
- Indirect blue LED interior lighting
- Remote-controlled door mirrors
- Advanced keyless entry and starter system
- Air-conditioning
- ABS with brake assist
Ford's Shifting Product Plans
As of July 2008, the Mazda Verisa isn't expected to be brought to the US. Parent Ford Motor Company has plans to overhaul its own line up by including a number of models from its European line such as the Fiesta and European Focus.
Mazda USA is already fairly well situated to manage its current product line under $4 per gallon gasoline, therefore bringing the Verisa to the North American market isn't expected to happen in the near future.
